Fairacres is a charitable and affordable community in north London which caters for residents with physical and visual disabilities. It is owned and managed by Jewish Blind & Disabled. Pla have been working in depth with them to develop the program and the design for a new fully wheelchair accessible environment for current and future residents.

Planning permission has been granted by London Borough of Barnet for the new building, comprising 40 one bedroom apartments and associated social and amenity space and servicing. The project comprises the replacement of a 1980’s building to the rear of the site with a new wing of accommodation which will be at the forefront of inclusive design standards, with all apartments and common space beign fully wheelchair accessible.

A retained Georgian villa at the heart of the site is also to be repaired and refurbished as part of the program of renewal.
