Alan read architecture at University College, London and the University of Cambridge, where he received a commendation for his post-graduate Diploma in 1990.

Alan is an accomplished designer with over twenty five years of experience. Noted for his skilled draughtsmanship and his attention to detail, he has designed and completed award-winning projects in the UK, Europe and the US. These include corporate headquarters, performing arts, media and broadcast facilities and private residences. He is experienced in working with complex briefs and on sites in sensitive planning contexts and has built up a large body of work in the adaptation and refurbishment of existing and historic buildings. He takes an active and continuous role in all projects, working alongside his founding partner Matt Lunn.  

Alan has previously worked for noted design practices, Zaha Hadid and Fletcher Priest. In 2001, he helped establish the UK office of global architects HKS. As the joint Managing Principal, he was responsible for the corporate and hospitality teams and, in 2011, his design for Avon Cosmetics European Headquarters was selected as the British Council for Offices national award winner for Best Corporate Workplace.
